Dare to be Charlie or D2BC is the collaboration of Daren Callow and Charlie Savigar.
The story begins a few years ago in the October of 2007 in a pub somewhere near Clerkenwell where Daren and Charlie were both performing at the same live music night. After exchanging Myspace pages (remember Myspace?) the two sporadically stayed in contact over the next couple of years.
The next chapter starts nearly two years later in the October of 2009, where the two were brought together once again at the launch event of a charity album in which they were both involved. After closely observing each other’s performances with admiration and enthusiasm, they exchanged mobile numbers (slightly more eager to stay in touch this time round) and a few months later started working together.
In the years since, Daren and Charlie have developed an eclectic mix of songs incorporating many different musical genres. With Charlie’s classical background (City University London, Guildhall School of Music) and Daren’s various rock bands (Air UK, Normal, Stars in Exile), the two compliment each other exceptionally well.
They have played at a variety of venues, festivals, weddings and events across the UK (including Weyfest, Greenbelt, Big BBQ & Rockfield festivals and Oxjam) and Tootsies Orchid Lounge in Nashville, Tennessee.
